Tell us a bit about yourself? My name's Alex Luke I'm a 21 year old Singer-Songwriter from Manchester UK, some of my influences are Amy Winehouse, Sam Cooke and Ben Howard. I have been influenced by folk, jazz, Rnb and fell in love with hip-hop at an early age.
There are a lot of emerging artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest? I love to combine soulful vocals and honest lyrics with finger picked jazz chords. I support and raise money often for charitys for people affected by cancer and other life threatening diseases.
What’s your back-story? My brother passed away not long ago, this has had a huge influence on my music, I often write about love, loss and memories, from the beautiful to sad and everything in-between. I want my music to resonate with other people no matter what situation they are in life. I wrote my newest single 'Miss You in the Morning' after my brother passed away because I needed to express myself the only way I knew how. My brothers middle name was Luke, so I decided to call myself Alex Luke, it almost feels like he can live through myself and my music.
What are you working on at the moment? My debut single 'Miss You in the Morning' came out on the 30th March which I wrote, recorded, produced and mixed and mastered myself, I'm really proud of it and I've loved the process. I have my single launch on the 27th May in Manchester at Jimmy's NQ which I can't wait for and lots of gigs between and after that. Followed by my next single release.
