Amber Suns are an Indie-Pop/ New Wave band originating from Morecambe in early 2017, consisting of James Morrison (Keyboard & Vocals), Liam Kohlar (Guitar & Vocals) and Rob Hartford (Guitar & Vocals). Taking some light influence from the world of electronic music and blending evocative hooks and vocal harmonies to create a unique blend of piano-pop.
The band began creating and learning their craft in the basement of the illustrious Carlton Club located on Morecambe promenade.
Initially rhythmically influenced by the African Sounds of 'Graceland' by Paul Simon, James started writing and through knowing Rob (through performing in previous bands) and Liam (through local open mic nigh performances), decided to form the band. They then began to add electronic elements to provide an extra depth and modernistic approach to their initial afro-pop sounds.drawing comparisons to ‘The Police’ and ‘Coldplay’, with guitar and piano heavy pop music.
The bands debut live performance came when they headlined Morecambe Fireworks Display Bay Radio Stage to thousands on the promenade alongside former Britains Got Talents finalist Jack Gallagher. Since, the band have performed at Morecambe Christmas Lights Switch On, and The Grand Theatre in Lancaster performing alongside ‘The Voice’ finalist Jolan and X-factor finalist Paul Akister, as well as featuring regularly on 'BBC Introducing Lancashire', and local radio stations 'The Bay Radio’ and 'Beyond Radio'.
The band released their debut single ‘Free’ in late 2017 and has been likened to the ‘tribal sounds’ of Paul Simon’s - Graceland by BBC Radio Lancashire.
This was followed by the release of a special acoustic rendition of their original track 'Tonight' filmed at Lancaster Grand Theatre prior to Christmas 2017.
Amber Suns are set to release their second single ‘How Does She Do It’ on the 31st March 2018, with filming for the music video creating substantial buzz on social media.
Amber Suns are set to perform at various festivals over summer 2018 including 'Down By The Riverside Festival' and 'Kirkby Lonsdale Beer and Music Festival'.
