Learn more about me
Both born in early March (Pisces), our birthstone is Amethyst. We love gin, Faux Fur and have a fetish for old synthesisers. You'll find us in our studio playing drums on a roland 505, jamming along with an Omnichord and looping some guitar.
We are Amethysts (Simon & Clarice). We are an ambient pop duo from the depths of the East Anglian countryside, where we write, record and produce all of our own music. Our lyrics have a mystic edge (our manager says they sound pagan) but we write about personal experiences that anyone can relate to.
Our music is a hybrid of all of the styles we love from Jimi Hendrix to Clean Bandit. Naturally, this gives us our own unique sound. We are big fans of guitar as well as pop music & electronic music. We believe that music should be beautiful, an expression of how you feel rather than just sound. That's what we are aiming for in our music.
Amethysts have already gained the approval of Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music), Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1) and BBC Introducing. The last year has seen them play acclaimed Sofar Sounds sessions, The Secret Garden Party, and their first London headline shows, while their music has racked up over half a million plays on streaming services.
We met at school over 8 years ago now and have been making music together ever since. Amethysts is the first project we have pursued which feels right, like an extension of ourselves. All of our songs are about things that have happened or are happening in our personal life.
We’re currently gearing up for a new single, music video & EP release in early 2018. Unfortunately life can be unfair, our next single, 'Be There' was written in the midst of Clarice’s parents splitting after 24 years.
We have big plans for the future. I guess that every band has dreams, but we want to be as successful as we can be.
We have always dreamt of stadiums singing our songs back to us and having endless amounts of cool boots, jackets and our own brand of Gin. Please NME, help us out!
