Learn more about me

Tell us a bit about yourself? Angusraze is a creative project by Ryan Wilkinson, Dylan Flaherty and Isaac Burnett. Ryan is the 'vehicle' of the project producing all the music, lyrics and visuals. Isaac and Dylan contribute on a personal level by been personal influences on Ryan, Isaac been older and having a more maternal and structured spirit whilst Dylan is wild and expressive, these two aspects feed into Ryan's work. Producing a poignant expression of two far points of human experiance. Ryan is influenced by expressive and raw artists of any genre, any artists that are able to be raw and unfiltered but also exact in their ideas. Such as Death Grips, Fever Ray, Against Me.

There are a lot of emerging artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest? I feel my rawness sets me apart and the way i process my ideas in a very abstract and raw way emotionally and structurally but still have a structural accessibility so there is still a baseline of empathy and understanding to my work but still abstract concepts that can be picked out by moire intense absorbents of my music. Theres also the present visual aspect through characters like SOOZIE who have a performance art aspect to my work, this mixes more fringe forms of art into accessible and fun and frankly unpretentious ways

What’s your back-story? In my albums and projects I aim to make it flow in a structured way whether thats an emotional or sonic arc that goes through the EP or album for example, in my debut album ROZEY CHEEKX i implemented a sonic gradient going from rusty and industrial to more slimy and sarcastic sounds and lyrics, reflecting a process from grief to recollection and mixed emotions. I also view it as a diary as the penultimate song was written 2 days before i released the album, reflecting a poignant section in my life.

What are you working on at the moment? At this time i am working on my second album, instead of going inwards and been introspective this album is more outwards, dealing with the influences and expressions i feel outside of myself when i interact with society or other people. It also focuses a little bit on different forms of death, physical and emotionally. It will also have a short film accompanying it featuring 2 songs and music videos. I also want to save up some money to start gigging, i imagine my shows will have a wide theatrical element and have alot of d.i.y. but authentic aspects of a multimedia experience through film music and dance.
