An Alternative Rock band from Birmingham, England. Formed in 2013 by two brothers, Matt and Alex Georgiou, as a side project to their current band. It quickly became the focus of the two. There was just something about how Matt's powerful melodies integrated themselves into Alex's monstrous rhythms.
With Matt having finished University in Summer 2017 we agreed it was time to give music a real shot. So we started work on an EP to launch the band properly. Recorded in our father's living room with an old computer and a drum kit, the raw demos showed some real promise. These were sent off to Gareth Rodgers, a talented music engineer, to mix and master. The results were better than we could have ever dreamed! We eagerly recruited Liam Mead, a bassist, to gig and promote the release of what we believed to be our best work. Now the single 'Dreams of Fame' is out; and the EP, of the same name, is planned to be released in early 2018. We are setting our sights high for the future.
Having both been heavily into Rock and Alternative music from an early age we make sure to be brutally honest with each other as to whether a new song is something we would be happy to hear on one of our heroes albums. Doing this we try to ensure that we write the best possible songs we can. The current emerging Alternative/Rock music in the UK seems to be heavily based on either loud, angry riffs or reverb drenched guitar. We believe we stand outside this as even though we have a weak spot for loud riffs (we really do), we also place an incredible importance on melody. If a song doesn't have a catchy, impressive melody then it is thrown away. We test all our heavy songs acoustically to see if they sound good without all the distorted distractions. If they do then we know the song has something.
The 'Dreams of Fame' EP has a collection of songs that all have separate stories that they were born out of. 'Escaping You' was written out of the anger and sadness that comes from realising that a girl is just stringing you along. With the epiphany that it is never going to play out how you want it to and you need to cut this person out of your life. 'Liquid Diamond' is almost the opposite, that sense of peaceful euphoria that comes from being with someone you truly care about, all your worries don't seem as large an obstacle to overcome. The title track 'Dreams of Fame' is a social commentary on modern society. We're all told to be afraid of anyone different and grow up comparing ourselves to models and movie stars. What's left is a feeling of emptiness and a sense that we have no worth; being told the only cure to this is fame and fortune. Buying iPhones and wishing the temporary release would last longer than the few hours it does. We all deserve to feel like we're good enough. The rest of the songs have equally meaningful back-stories, but you'll have to listen to the lyrics to find what they're about! ;)
We are also working on recording our second, currently untitled EP. With many new songs written and influences ranging from Jeff Buckley, Nothing But Thieves and Bon Iver, we're very excited to unveil these tracks!
