Birthday Card are a melancholy pop five-piece originally from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. Consisting of Josh Saw (vocals, guitar), Conor Richards (lead guitar), Leslie Adriaans (drums ), Tom Ritchie (bass guitar) and George Harrison (synths). Effortless weaving of tight synth hooks, snappy synthetic and live drums, dreamy guitars and meandering basslines make it apparent the boys soak in a lot of influences - with tastes as diverse as Prefab Sprout and Talking Heads, through to more current artists such as Blossoms and The 1975.
Since launching earlier in 2017, the band have dropped two releases – the first being the wildly popular debut single ‘Heartstops’, which has amassed over 28,000 views and streams across all platforms since April. Praised for its sun kissed vibes, the song has quickly become a fan favourite. Fans and press alike were amazed to find out the track was recorded, mixed and mastered in their own studio The Kissing Booth - known to closer circles as Leslie's shed.
Followed up with its strong washed out sequel ‘Love Affair’, recorded at Runway Studios, the four showcased their humorous side with another DIY video which followed the destined-to-fail love story of Josh and a blow-up doll. Both tracks were met with strong praise for the band’s catchy writing and vivid imagery in their self-produced videos with rising director Harvey Frost.
Summer 2017 saw the band climb more steps to success with a burst of successful live dates, including slots at o2 Academy Oxford with local pals Haze, local festival slots and an immensely popular sold-out, self-hosted hometown show. The boys have had a strong start elsewhere on the road, too, with a run of successful live dates in London, Beds, Bucks and Herts. Now pitching up home in Brighton as the five-piece strive to grow their following down by the coast, Birthday Card are currently preparing for their second tour to-date supporting Sleeper, with 3 sold-out dates at Oxford o2, The Fleece and Bedford Esquires.
