They've been known to actually blast people away at shows. If bystanders remain upright, it isn’t out of the ordinary for their faces to melt. Trippy vocals combined with guerilla-like ferocity on drums and feeding guitars are some of the perks you’re entitled to when listening to these dudes. Whether you’re tickled by dancing, rocking out or straight-out losing your mind, they’ve got it. Black Bambi has finally landed the ruthlessly deafening mothership of psychedelia on earth and plans to tour there for a while.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
We're a psychedelic rock trio from Montreal, Qc. Composed of Julien Corrado on drums, Jason Tawfik on bass/synth/vocals, and Sacha Gubany on guitar/vocals. We have a variety of different influences, ranging from The Beatles, Nirvana, Tame Impala, Bass Drum of Death, The Doors, Brian Jonestown Massacre, and the list keeps dragging on.
There are a lot of emerging artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest? We're from Canada, land of ice, so we're coming in hot to melt everyone's face. Being from Montreal, we're from a complete different landscape and soundscape than all UK bands, so we definitely bring a new dimension to the room because of where we're from.
What’s your back-story?
All our songs seem to take shape from an initial feeling or story. Seems like every band will say the same, but all of our songs are inspired by true events, what we know, what we feel. It's genuine and it's from the heart. "Little Loser" is a message to a younger self, trying to comfort a younger version of yourself, telling them all will work out and the storm will eventually clear. "Mutante" is addressed to the person you will someday marry. It's about life, love, and death, and the realization that in the end you're just waiting to meet that person that's going to be by your side and make all this nonsense worthwhile. "Rip You" is a mystery isn't it.
What are you working on at the moment?
We have a second part to the "This Isn't Love" EP, called "We're In The Jungle". It's already recorded and currently being mixed. Aiming to put that out at the beginning of the summer. As goes for shows, we're trying to spread our wings across eastern Canada and make our way down to the Big Apple.
