Tell us a bit about yourself? I'm Cal Ruddy, a Singer/Songwriter from Liverpool. I take influence from so many genres of music from across a few eras but I'm obsessed with 50's and 60's artists and Rock N'Roll/Rockabilly stuff so Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, Johnny Cash and people like that have definitely had an impact on my sound. I also idolise the likes of Marc Bolan and David Bowie and I've grown up with bands like The Ramones and The Clash. As I'm from Liverpool The Beatles have also played their part in the artist I am today haha!
There are a lot of emerging artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest? It's a bit of a cliche thing to say but my singing voice isn't a generic voice that you'd hear all the time on the radio. I don't follow any trends. I just sing and perform in my natural style. If people like it then that's a bonus haha!
What’s your back-story? Come to a gig and I'll tell you a story about my back.
What are you working on at the moment? I spent some time in Nashville in September 2017 writing songs, playing shows and developing myself further as a songwriter and artist. I'm hoping to have some new music out in 2018 so keep an eye on my social media for updates on that. I've already started to play the new stuff live and the response has been great so far.
