Callum Pitt releases new single "Happiness" in March, capitalising on a hugely eventful first twelve months that’s brought widespread industry recognition and firmly positioned the young artist as one to watch.
Taking influences from The War On Drugs, Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes, the indie-folk newcomer combines finger-picked folk riffs with a stunning falsetto voice. Callum’s 2017 debut track “You’d Better Sell It While You Can” brought with it immediate industry attention, piqued by coverage from the likes of DIY, Fresh On The Net and Crack In The Road. Follow up tracks “Least He’s Happy” and “Rabbits” had more success still, landing spots on Spotify’s coveted ‘New Music Friday’ playlists across Europe, amassing nearly 1.5 million plays on Spotify alone and with the latter track receiving airplay from BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music.
“Callum Pitt… harnesses the lilting nature of Americana, producing some intricate guitar licks and roll-off-the-tongue lyrics that converge into a swelling chorus that sweeps you off your feet.”
Callum also steadily built his live following throughout the year with support slots for Meadowlark, Dan Owen, Cape Cub, Isaac Gracie, The Pale White, as well as a slot at Selfridges Music Matters new music gig series with Mullally and Joy Crookes. This string of live shows culminated in his first headline show November, which sold out within two days, a full month ahead of the show.
Discussing his latest release, Callum stated: "Happiness is about the phases my own, and I think many people’s, mind goes through while trying to make a life you are content in, and rationalising your place in the world. It talks about the self doubts and the ruts you can get stuck in, and the moments and people that can lift you out of those ruts. Hopefully people can relate".
Following an impressive debut year, Callum Pitt is definitely one to watch closely in 2018, with plans being made for a string of new releases, as well as more exciting live shows.
The single, "HAPPINESS", is out 9TH MARCH and will be available to stream and download on all platforms.
