“Callum Pitt… harnesses the lilting nature of Americana, producing some intricate guitar licks and roll-off-the-tongue lyrics that converge into a swelling chorus that sweeps you off your feet.”
Callum Pitt is set to release his 5th single ‘Away From The Rousing Parades’ via Kaleidoscope on 13th July. The track showcases Callum at his Americana-influenced best, beginning with the kind of folky fingerpicked riff that has become his trademark, and building into a crescendo of foot-stomping Summer-sing-along pop. The release of this latest single will be celebrated at a launch show at The Cluny, Newcastle, also on 13th July.
Now into his second year, Callum shows few signs of faltering in his writing, and so his upward trajectory in the industry can surely be expected to continue. Callum's 2017 debut, “You’d Better Sell It While You Can”, brought with it immediate industry attention, piqued further by widespread coverage of Callum's follow up releases in blogs like DIY, Fresh On The Net, Crack In The Road and Dork. Second and third releases "Least He's Happy" and "Rabbits" landed on Spotify's coveted 'New Music Friday' playlists across Europe, with the latter track receiving radio play from BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6Music. Callum has also steadily built his live following with support slots for Meadowlark, Dan Owen, Cape Cub, Isaac Gracie, and The Pale White, as well as a slot at Selfridges' Music Matters gig series with Mullally and Joy Crookes. This string of live shows culminated in selling out his first headline show in November last year, a full month ahead of the gig. With that in mind, it’s probably worth snapping up your tickets for the single launch show as early as possible!
Explaining ‘Away From The Rousing Parades’’ message, Callum said:
“'Away From the Rousing Parades' is my most energetic and passionate single so far, it considers my own mortality, and the process of working out what I value most in life. I've spent lots of time in the past comparing myself to others and this song talks about letting go of the need to feel validated by anyone other than close friends, family and yourself, taking ownership of your self-worth, and being at peace. This is by far our favourite to play live because we can really let loose and give out instruments a good bash, massively looking forward to doing this at my headline show at The Cluny on 13th July.”
Callum is currently at work writing and recording a host of tracks at Blank Studios in Newcastle, with the aim of an EP release later in the year. ‘Away From The Rousing Parades’ will be available on all major streaming services from 13th July.
