"[A] blend of Soul, Jazz, Hip-Hop and R&B… combined with her powerful vocals." (Conversations About Her)

Originally from Durham, UK, Chloe became a fixture on the city’s busking circuit, with videos of her acoustic street performances amassing tens of thousands of views on YouTube, before appearing on ‘The Voice’ in the UK in 2016, and making it to the live quarter finals before withdrawing from the show due to health reasons. Her tracks fuse elements of Trap R&B, soul and hip hop, with Chloe’s soulful voice underpinning a lyrical storytelling style reminiscent of early Jill Scott or Amy Winehouse, evidenced in her debut independent release ‘Kerbside’ and continued in forthcoming single ‘Drunk’, which Chloe is working on with independent record label Kaleidoscope to release on 12th April 2019.

‘Drunk’ tackles the topics of infatuation and lust, and the struggles that come with trying to reject those sorts of intense desire in the search for a healthier alternative – particularly when that infatuation is one-sided. As Castro explains in her own words:

“It’s about grounding yourself, like when you get caught up in something and you know you're more into to someone than they're into you… you have to put a lid on it before you get attached and completely lose yourself.”

The track was produced in Chloe's spare bedroom before being recorded at Blank Studios in Newcastle upon Tyne (UK), working with emerging producer Jake Karno and in-house engineer John Martindale, and with Newcastle music scene veterans SHIELDS providing their services in recording the instrumentation on the track. Chloe came to the attention of indie label Kaleidoscope while recording her self-released debut track ‘Kerbside’ at Blank Studios with Martindale, who was so excited by the work that he sent it over to the label on Chloe’s behalf. Although she decided to go the DIY route for her first release, Chloe began working with Kaleidoscope and their artist SHIELDS to record her follow-up single.

‘Drunk’ will be available on all major download and streaming platforms worldwide. For more information on Chloe Castro, please visit www.chloecastro.co.uk.
