Tell us a bit about yourself? We are Cuecliche a three piece Pop-Punk band based in London, Guitarist Jake is London born and bred but Bassist Terry hails from Liverpool and Keith sailed over from Ireland. We met through a love of similar music a year ago and we've been playing to gather ever since.
There are a lot of emerging Artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest? I think the thing that makes us unique is that we're not wasting time trying too hard to be unique, if that makes sense? We've come together and taken our favourite things from our favourite artists thrown in a personal touch and the result is our music. Our name itself is a play on the fact that we're just another Cliche.
What’s you back-story? Well everyone can relate to everything if they dig deep enough I think? Our song 'One Last Chance' is written about being taken advantage of and feeling too forgiving, everyone's felt that way sometime right? Jake and Terry sat down the first time they wrote lyrics together and just talked about times they felt that way and what they would say to the people that have made them feel this way if they didn't have to worry about consequence.
What are you working on at the moment? The next 6 months are huge for us, we hope to have our follow up EP released and a video to go with that plus later on we're hoping to book our third and biggest tour yet. So I think everything we can do in that time, we are.
What's the first song you remember hearing? Terry - The very first song? I think it has to be Sacrifice by Elton John, it's definitely not the first I heard but it's the first I remember because my family used to make me sing it at parties, I was a small kid and couldn't even say Sacrifice, I think I said it Saccy-fice or something? More a mental scar than a memory.
You're in a Karaoke Bar - What's your go to song? Terry - I actually love Karaoke, I'm not remotely ashamed to admit it. When I first turned 18(ish) my local pub had Karaoke every Saturday and I had a full set of the same songs I'd do every week... If I had to chose one go to... maybe What's My Age Again - Blink 182
What was the first gig you went to? Terry - Now this one I remember well! It was Sum 41 supported by American Hi-Fi absolutely unreal line up.
Which song do you wish you'd written? Terry - I actually have a playlist called "Sh** I wish I'd written" I think maybe 'Hear, You, Me?" By Jimmy Eat world, simple, beautiful and so powerful.
Which song changed your life? Terry - I hate these questions, picking one is just too hard. I think 'One Step Closer' by Linkin Park, it was the first 'alternative' kind of song I heard it was on a Woolworths advert and I just fell in love and went out and brought Hybrid Theory. I dyed my hair Blonde amidst Eminem fame and everyone thought it was because I was into his music (which I was) but this was teenage me trying to be like Chester Bennington, he was my first serious music hero, I went from him to Jon Bon Jovi to Mark Hoppus... unique journey. But 'One Step Closer' because it opened my eyes to Alternative music.
Which song would you like played at your funeral? Terry - Closer to the Edge - 30 Seconds to Mars
What song is stuck in your head right now?Terry - A song from the deluxe version of Blink 182's California called 'Good Old Days'
What was the first Album you bought? Terry - Hybrid Theory Linking Park
Which song made you want to play music? Terry - I remember the exact moment. I was at a Blink 182 show in Manchester, They were playing 'What's my Age Again' and I just watched Mark and thought that looks like fun, I want to do this.
