Tell us a bit about yourself? Hey! I’m Dea I am a singer and songwriter. Born in Moscow grew up in London, and originally from Prishtina. I started to sing and write songs at the age of 11. I would describe my music as R&B and Neo-soul. My love for music grew from a very young age:main influences are: Sade, The Weeknd, Amy Whinehouse, Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Nina Simone, Nat King cole, 70's/80's, Old school hip hop and r&b. Formed a girls band at the age of 11, and then embarking this journey ever since.
There are a lot of emerging artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest? I believe my music has a particular sound with inspirations of R&B and Neo Soul, hints of electronic sounds, and subtle use of the trap style rhythm. My vocals and style of melodies aim to give a hypnotic and euphoric vibe and at the same time can be very heartfelt and soulful expressing personal experiences and intense emotions.
What’s your back-story? My first released track 'You' has been greatly influenced by the Weeknd, Roy Woods, and Sade, bringing a melancholic sound of a transition period in my life where I went through a lot of life problems, a heart break and also reality check, where I started realising the power of controlling your state of mind showing deeper layers of my personality. My second release 'Vibes' brings a more euphoric vibe with an upbeat melody, also representing a great part of me and my optimistic view on life, chilling and only having chilled people and good vibes around me.
What are you working on at the moment? I am currently working on a new track, going for a retro/electronic/synth-wavy 80s vibe, and the song gives a feel as if you're driving through Miami in the night time, even though haven't been there yet..(Or in GTA Miami Vice, a song you would hear playing in the car). So very summery overall!
