Lead singer of Swish, Daniel Swisher, started as a YouTuber, who now has more than 14,000 subscribers. Through his videos he spreads his love for punk music by creating unique covers of breakthrough artists as well as originals within the punk genre. After meeting manager and lead guitarist Elaine Simmons, Daniel decided to create a band. Fans of Daniel Swisher have commonly said Daniel is proving “punk’s not dead”.
Daniel is a 24-year-old pop punk style musician from Chicago, Illinois that produces covers/mashups on his YouTube channel and has recently started producing original songs. He is a guitarist/singer and has been playing guitar since he was about 12 years old. The first song he ever learned on guitar was "Welcome To Paradise" by Green Day. "Guitar Hero got me to buy my first guitar and Green Day inspired me to pursue music further. I've always had a huge passion for doing cover songs. But now I feel ready to show the world my own music, which has been shaped by the punk musicians that I look up to."
Daniel says he takes inspiration from the punk bands that he grew up with like Green Day, Blink-182, Sum 41, Rise Against, etc. "The first punk song I ever heard was American Idiot by Green Day because it was on the soundtrack for Madden 2005, and it changed my life. When the song came on, I had honestly no idea what I was hearing or what they were saying, but I just knew I loved it. From there, I memorized Green Day's entire catalogue, going back to their older tracks from albums like Dookie, Insomniac, etc. I was then opened up to more punk bands. I became obsessed with the catchy hooks and the sound that the bands were able to produce. Up until now, I've spent my life studying this pop punk genre, and it is my passion to bring it back as strong as ever, with a modern twist."
Swish currently has an EP called The Red Age available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and Google Play. They are pumped to release their new single, Fake Reality on Friday, November 1st.
