Dolly and the Dinosaur are a 17/18 year old four piece band based in the South of England, combining 'catchy guitar riffs and soft vocals' into their indie rock and pop songs. The name Dolly and the Dinosaur derives from a quote in an episode of children's TV show Peppa Pig, 'lets play with dollies and dinosaurs'.
The band formed in late 2016, inspired by a multiple of genres, with each individual member bringing a different perspective and musical taste, culminating in a rich and vibrant sound. DATD write and perform all of their own music, composing the songs that they play in drummer Rohan's shed, 'the Dollhouse'. In March 2017, DATD won a countywide Battle of the Bands competition, winning slots at local festivals and studio time. Over the summer of 2017, the band appeared at a number of shows and festivals alongside the likes of Clean Cut Kid, Spring King and Himalayas.
Dolly released their debut single 'Without' on the 1st September 2017, with their second single 'Unofficial' coming out three weeks later. Both tracks were released on all major streaming sites. Off the back of these two songs, the band headlined Absent Kelly's introducing night at the O2 Academy2 Islington in December 2017, before an eager and packed audience of both new and old fans.
In the Spring of 2018, follow up single 'Indigo Child' was released on all major streaming sites, and has been played by prestenter Katie Boden on their local BBC introducing programme. Two weeks after the release of the bands third single, they played their second London show, at the renowned Camden Assembly, as the main support act to the hotly-tipped 'Glass Caves'. May 2018 saw the band shortlisted to play at two major festivals, including Truck Festival in Oxfordshire. In July 2018, Dolly and the Dinosaur will play the prestigious Y not Festival in the Peak District, having been picked from a shortlist by BBC Introducing to play at the event.
As of June 2018 the band have received over 100'000 streams on Spotify, and 2019 will see the release of the band's debut EP.
