Learn more about me
Dopla is a 19 year old music producer from the sleepy market town of Matlock in Derbyshire. From the success of his first and second EPs, he is now looking to release a string of singles. Dopla shares the Matlock music scene with friends, Patawawa and brother, Karma Kid (one half of shy luv), having written and produced with both groups. He is heavily influenced by alternative pop of the early 2000's and 80's Synthwave. Some of his biggest influences include Mark Ronson, Empire of The Sun, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and MGMT.
Combining genres and sound experimentation is at the heart of Dopla's work. His eclectic taste in music allows him to draw inspiration from many different genres, including Classical and alt pop/rock, making his sound unique to him. He is a multi-instrumentalist and all the work on his tracks is done solely by him. He also carries out all his own production, instrumentation and vocals including the more complex mix down and mastering processes.
Dopla is currently working on a series of singles that will be released steadily over the next 6 months. Running Forward is the first of this series. He is looking to bring back sounds of the past in a new, exciting way, encapsulating nostalgia into his music whilst retaining a contemporary feel. Dopla has also been working closely with Shy Luv, co-writing Shock Horror and an exciting new single that is set to be released soon. A collaboration is also in the works with fellow Matlock trio, Patawawa.
Dopla has had a lot of exposure with BBC Introducing, resulting in a number of Radio 1 plays and live interviews with Dean Jackson of BBC Introducing in the East Midlands. He has also been playlisted on The Sound You Need's Spotify as well as Kitsune's Hot Stream and Spotify's Discover Weekly Playlist. Martin Garrix has also shown interest in Dopla's first EP, uploading Coming Home to his 'Favourites' playlist.
As traction begins to build for Dopla and his music, he is looking to set up a band and live show to bring his music to the stage.
