Ego Mechanics are a guitar & drums duo from Chicago. Jonathan Ross (drummer) is originally from England and Seth Arp (guitar/vocals) was born & raised in Wisconsin. Their sound is heavily influenced by blues-rock duos like The Black Keys and The White Stripes, but they also draw inspiration from the songwriting of the Arctic Monkeys, Queens of The Stone Age, Foals, and Radiohead. With 18 years separating us in age, we both come from different music eras which gives us a wide palette of inspiration and influence to draw from. Jonathan grew up during the punk movement of the 80s and early grunge era, while Seth was growing up during the end of grunge, the beginning of mainstream alt-rock.
Ego Mechanics formed when Seth moved to Chicago in October of 2015. He met Jonathan a week after moving via a Craigslist ad. At the time, Seth was operating under the solo moniker Seth Arp and The Hands. In early 2016, they changed their name to Ego Mechanics. In October of 2016, they released their debut EP "Wreck".
