Learn more about me
FRANÇOIS is a Pop influenced artist from Liverpool.
Soon to be your new favourite artist, FRANÇOIS is the alt-pop artist that you need on your radar. Currently working with producer David Alexander (Summer Heart and Fews), he is readying a string of singles for release later this year, with the opening gambit and his debut, STAY.
STAY is a gripping electro pop ballad that tells a relatable tale of love and loss, over funky guitars and euphoric trance-like synthwork. The instrumental sweeps you in with it’s relaxed and downtempo vibe, with FRANÇOIS’ engaging storytelling as a perfect pairing.
With his first forays in music in 2014 with the release of the demo Last Night I Fell, he has amassed over 10K plays on SoundCloud, and secured support from numerous radio shows including BBC Radio 6 and Amazing Radio. His first live performance was a support slot for LA Priest and Pixx which led to main support for Aquilo, Summer Camp, Nimmo and Francis Lung.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
FRANÇOIS is the alter ego of Luke Oliver James. Situated in his adopted city of Liverpool, FRANÇOIS is currently producing tracks with influences taken from artists such as Dua Lipa, Låpsley and Summer Heart.
There are a lot of emerging artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest?
Indie is making a come back in a big way, I want my sound to take those influences and reimagine it with the use of synths, creating a pop twist. I grew up playing in indie bands and feel you can still hear that in my music.
What’s your back-story?
I like to tell the story that people can relate to. Stay was written in third person about how people deal with losing relationships. It sounds like a cliche but a lot of people around me at the time were going through all sorts of losses and this is an expression of that.
