Georgia Box, 23, is a social media music star about to burst onto the mainstream.
Famous online for her original inspiring songs, creative covers and rewriting popular
male songs to give their silent female characters a voice and for promoting the
positive message that young people don’t have to conform or fit a box, Georgia has
built a huge, dedicated fanbase over the past couple of years.
Her videos were streamed more than 90m times on Facebook last year alone (2017),
with her video giving ‘Shaggy’s girlfriend’s version of events’ going viral with 30m
views. She’s racked up more Facebook fans than Raye and Anne-Marie combined.
Unsigned she has already achieved pop success, landing at number 31 in the itunes
main charts and number 11 in the itunes pop charts, with her recent debut single
release I Don’t Want You Anymore - a song she says shows women in a more
realistic light post-break up - which she co-wrote with Tre Jean-Marie, one of the
UK’s hottest new producers and who is behind the recent sounds of Craig David,
Kaytranada, Wretch 32, Maverick Sabre, Chris and Kem, and AJ Tracey.
Georgia lives by an alternative ‘girl power’ narrative within her music and lifestyle.
This means not conforming to what ‘pop’ means for a female singer and promoting
a message to her fans that they shouldn’t be afraid to do what makes them happy.
“Just because you're into football doesn't mean you can’t like makeup. Just because
you're female it doesn't mean you’re overly emotional” - the latter point being the
inspiration for her latest single. Georgia lives by this example. She counts football as
one of her life’s passions, second only to music. She’s a striker for Billericay Town
Ladies and is one of her previous team’s all time highest scorers. At the same time
she’s already grabbed the attention of MAC Cosmetics.
Born and bred in Colchester, Essex, Georgia left school after her GCSEs and went
to Tiffany Theatre College which is where she found her calling as a future pop star.
She started uploading videos to Facebook every week - something she’s done
without fail since she was 19 - and her 500K+ followers love her originality and the
creative twist she puts into her music.
