Copenhagen-based group HÆC, consisting of August Bager and Adrian Estevez, delivers a fusion of guitar-driven indie electronic, melancholic pop and chill-out that invokes names like Daughter, Ritual, The xx, Haux or Mansionair.
An acronym for “Holograms Against Endangered Creatures”, their name is “an allegory of the direction the modern societies are taking, towards a world of virtual characters.” And the band moves against that, insisting on a genuine way of living and creating. “The way we interact and express our feelings has changed drastically in the past years. HÆC intends to be an organic form of expression, as faithful to the individuals behind the project as it could possibly be,” the duo says.
Adrian & August started writing music together at the beginning of 2017. That was a particularly cold winter in Copenhagen and it encouraged the duo to spend a lot of time indoors, crafting the art of Danish hygge, talking about music and writing songs. That fruitful beginning was the confirmation of an absolute musical symbiosis between the two, in spite of the fact that their backgrounds as songwriters differ a lot.
HÆC's work crystalised for the first time on July 13, 2017, in the form of a single called "Soon". The song was recorded in two different countries, Denmark and Galiza, which are 2700 km apart from each other, and mastered by the Grammy-awarded engineer Caco Refojo.
On September 10, 2017, two months after the release of the first single, the band announced that they would be working with the French producer AL'sic on a remix to 'Soon'. That track developed into a new partnership between the two parts and on December 1, 2018, the Danish duo and the French producer published a song called "Fading Away", that was included in the album "Stranger" (EDS Prods. 2018). Since then AL'sic has become a regular contributor to HÆC's creations.
HÆC's latest work is a double A-side single, called 'Turn Around / Relief', that was released on May 25, 2018. This single caught the attention of notorious YouTube & Spotify curators such as Nourish. & Wave of Good Noise, who promoted it across their channels, making the band reach over 100.000 global streams.
For HÆC, the near future brings a new EP, some collaborations with different DJs and producers, and improving their craft.
