Hayes & Y is an indie band, based in Manchester, United Kingdom, formed in 2013. With band members that hail from as far afield as Bulgaria and Finland, indie-pop four-piece they harbor a somewhat continental feel that immediately sets them apart from their quintessentially British contemporaries. Channeling a sound that tinges on 80’s electronica while championing modern indie-pop influences, Hayes & Y have a sleek and genuine approach to their intricate sound. The four-piece have successfully crafted an aesthetic that feels both timely and timeless.
Hayes & Y have released 3 EPs with their original music so far. The self-titled debut came out in 2014 and was followed by a UK tour, including dates in London, Manchester and Sheffield. In 2015 the band marked the release of its second EP “The Only Thing Worse Than an Overpriced Bottle of Water” and their re-allocation to the UK scene. Hayes & Y spent the next year in writing new material and actively gigging in London, which resulted in their EP "Sinclair" in the beginning of 2017.
Their newest single, ‘Always So Simple, Always So Cold’, released in October 2017, excerpts a lavish fusion of energetic bass and luscious guitar licks and elegant ‘80s synth lines, providing the track an incredible lift behind the track’s slow-paced bass line. The accompanying video sees Hayes & Y using grainy, black & white film clips in order to reinforce the somber tone. ‘Always So Simple, Always So Cold’ was self-produced and mixed by Martin Cooke, Grammy nominated mixing engineer, worked with Muse, Kasabian, Phantogram and more. The single was positively received, including reviews from It's All Indie, Gigslutz, Flick of the Finger, etc.
The band has a lot of experience on stage and has played numerous concerts and festivals, the biggest one in 2015, supporting Kasabian at The Spirit of Burgas festival. In the UK they have performed in a number of legendary venues, such as The Dublin Castle, The 100 Club and Proud Camden in London and The Castle Hotel and Night & Day Cafe in Manchester.
The band has had partnerships with global brands such as H&M and Heineken.
