James Joe Grant is a professional Music Producer based in London, UK.

Tell us a bit about yourself? My name is James Joe Grant and I am a music producer from London, UK. My big musical influences are Calvin Harris, Clean Bandit and also record labels such as UMG, Sony, Bad Boy Records and Disturbing London. The artists that inspire me are Ed Sheehan, Major Lazer, Dua Lipa and Drake.

There are a lot of emerging artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest? Primarily I create dance music but I have the capabilities to produce multiple genres from, classical, EDM to Grime which allows me to create unique sounding Dance/Electronic music which contains sounds from different genres.

What’s your back-story? Music background From an early age James Joe Grant was attracted to music, his parents bought him musical instruments while he attended primary school where he received music tuition and learned to play the recorder and guitar. His first ever solo guitar performance followed shortly after at an end of year concert. James Joe Grant was always surrounded by music during his early childhood as his immediate family always played music around the house. In the 1980s his father and uncles built their own custom speakers and sound systems. Several years later they organised and hosted boat parties, music events around Europe and international cruises. James Joe Grant was inspired by this, adding extra fuel for his burning desire to one day have a music career. He become an MC in his teens but just as a hobby although he performed several times live on radio. After this in his young adult life he started to produce music and remix popular songs for fun. Most notably in 2010 he worked with Peking Records and remixed a few songs by artists such as; Tarrus Riley and Gappy Ranks who was nominated for a Mobo award that year (missing out to Gyptian who had a recent hit single “hold yuh” featuring Nick Minaj on their remix). In 2016 James Joe Grant started playing around with different synth sounds in Logic and started producing his own style of EDM with thick synths, later on in 2018 he decided to use this as his signature sound and became a full time professional music producer. His current studio is Metropolis Studio where he is working on his debut single Circling The Sun.

What are you working on at the moment? I am currently working on releasing my debut single Circling The Sun which will be available very soon. I am also finishing up my second single Have Your Way. My plans for the next 3-6 months are to release Have Your Way, start gigging and direct a music video for Circling The Sun.

What's the first song you remember hearing? The first song I remember hearing is Usher 187.

You're in a Karaoke Bar - What's your go to song? 50 cent in the club it is not my favourite song but I find it a little bit easier to rap and I can't sing to save my life.

What was the first gig you went to? Bobby Valentino when he first came on the scene he was signed to disturbing the piece. At the time I liked his single slow down.

Which song do you wish you'd written? Adele someone like you.

Which song changed your life? 2 Pac changes because it was the first rap song I ever heard when I was growing up. It was interesting hearing the political aspects of American life in the 90s. The inspired me to become an mc which eventually led me down this road to become a music producer.

Which song would you like played at your funeral? Missing you
