As a songwriter and producer, Hertfordshire-based music maker Joe Turone has spent many years building a fanbase performing as a part of numerous musical projects. This began with left-field musical duo Sid & Joe, a Harlow-based collective who merged acoustic guitars, lush harmonies, and spoken word poetry. This signature sound scored them hundreds of thousands of YouTube views across several project releases and a spot on Sir Bob Geldof's UK tour as a main support act.
After Joe's musical journey with Sid came to a halt, he began producing for artists in his local area in order to further develop his craft, build new friendships, and inherit new inspiration. In 2016, he participated in East Herts Got Talent alongside two of his collaborators as Beautiful Fiction and won. With the winnings, he executively produced rapper Cameron Donald's debut EP "Early Morning Nights", alongside Dan Formoso, S-X, and Wizzy Wow (whose back catalogue include the likes of Ed Sheeran and Childish Gambino to name a few). Soon before long, more and more songs would begin to materialise.
In 2017, Joe created a song as a Christmas gift for his mother and after many requests uploaded the track (entitled "Take Your Time") online and shortly after it was broadcast on BBC Introducing.
However, it It wasn’t until the release of Getting By, (a self-produced album showcasing his own brand of alternative indie-pop) that Joe really began making his mark as a solo artist. Since the project’s release in 2018, Joe’s catalogue has amassed over 80,000 streams and has spent the past year being performed around the UK. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Bleachers, Fun., and Wilco, the project basques in its moments of sonic subtleties before climbing atop riveting textures.
The latest additions to this growing music catalogue come bundled together in the form of Joe’s second full-length project, which builds upon the foundation set by Getting By and embellishes it with a folkish influence to create a body of work textured with acoustic guitars, drum machines and fluctuating optimism. This serves as the perfect canvas for Joe’s humbling melodies and self-contemplating lyricism.
