Learn more about me
Two-piece garage rock band Junior was formed in 2015 when frontman Jordan Walker transitioned from acoustic music into a heavier direction.
"I just had some messy break up and I wanted to vent about girls" says Jordan. "Like pretty much all the songs are about them in one way or another. Not always bad. I idolise them. I just didn't want to be that guy at the back of some dingy bar writing love letters on an acoustic guitar."
"Most of the songs comes from being locked away when I first moved to London. I was broke and had nothing better to do with passing the time so I just wrote. My phone would have like, heaps of memo recordings or little lines that I thought might work. Eventually they'd piece together and they were my first few songs. I found some drummer off of Gumtree and played these four songs as best as I could."
Enlisting the help of Jessica Batour (Marika Hackman, Big Deal) on drums, Junior recorded their self titled EP at Lightship 95 with help from Rory Attwell (Test Icicles, Kasms). Released in September, the EP which includes hopeless love song 'Heartbreaker' and desperate regret ballad 'Lonely Hearts Motel', gained them attention for fierce, fuzzed up riffs and tales of screwing up relationships.
Noted for their hooks and sleazy heartbreaking blue riffs, Junior deliver a huge sound for just two people.
After booking a string of shows throughout London and Hertfordshire in 2017, Junior drafted in Johnny Yates to drum live. 2018 is already set to be busy with two headline shows and plans to head into the studio over summer to record a second EP.
Definitely ones to watch on the rock scene.
