KYANOS is a four-piece jazzy-psychedelic band from Suffolk in the United Kingdom consisting of Zach Franklin, Fintan Wightman, Sam Golding and Seth Bauly. We take a large influence in our sound from bands such as Tame Impala, HOMESHAKE and The Doors, as well as each individually enjoying a wide range of different artists, from Dorothy Ashby the jazz harpist to the math rock band toe. We feel this creates a more eclectic, diverse atmosphere in which we can explore many different musical paths that come together to create a more unique sound.
Sam and Seth have been composing and playing music together since they became friends at the age of 9 after they both spotted they were carrying the same Beatles book at school. Since then we have played in bands consistently under many different names, eventually reuniting with old school friends Fintan and Zach and forming KYANOS.
We started playing gigs locally at venues such as the Hunter Club and the John Peel centre, gradually developing our live sound. More recently we have branched out, playing venues in London such as The Alleycat on Denmark Street as well as our first headline gig at Notting Hill Arts Club.
We don't like to stick to one particular sound or idea, we're constantly evolving and taking influence from a wide range of genres and this is reflected in our music.
Most of the time we like to express ourselves through our instruments, the music tells the story and the lyrics flow alongside.
As our songwriting developed we then began to record our tunes ourselves, recording our first demo 'BAJA' before being invited into a studio to professionally record our next release, the single Jazz Apples with its B-side Surfdom.
We released our debut EP 'Elevator to Japan', a largely experimental project that was recorded all on iPhones, with the idea that the 12 minute piece would be listened to in one joyful sitting.
We are now turning our sights to something more ambitious. Our plans for the future are to continue playing live, alongside writing and recording our debut album which we hope to complete by early 2018.
