The release continues a summer that has already seen the band play packed out performances over the Great Escape weekend as well as go on a short tour up and down the country, concluding with a homecoming show for the Brighton Fringe. The single also arrived the week after Lacuna Bloome’s raucous festival debut at the Isle of Wight Festival, which was followed by blowing the roof off at this years Tramlines festival courtesy of This Feeling.
Taking influence from the Madchester scene with some critics also comparing the group to more contemporary bands like Peace, Swim Deep, In Heaven and DMAs. ‘I Am’, which has been played by John Kennedy on Radio X and added to the B-list of Amazing Radio’s playlist, sounds like a band from the 90s that you somehow missed. Bursting into a colourful upbeat rhythm from the get go, the track features a plethora of vibrant layers that flow into a playful yet rich style bound to mesmerize.
With the band set to play Jimmy’s in Manchester later this year, they’re bringing the sound back home, and it’s sure to go down a storm.
