Learn more about me
Tell us a bit about yourself? I'm a 21 year old Mexican-American solo alt-pop act from Texas. Been writing and recording music/demos in my room for about 7 years now. It's been a process. Long nights. Self doubt. Exciting "ah ha" moments. Likes and dislikes from a few people. But I'm getting there. My big influences are Brandon Flowers , The xx, Leon Larregui, Thom Yorke, Oasis, Arcade Fire, Robert Smith, Mac Demarco, Ed Sheeran, Ryan Adams, Lorde, Natalia Lafourcade, Bon Iver, The National, The 1975...and Taylor Swift's 1989. I got more, but those have recently influenced me a lot on being diverse with my sound and songwriting.
There are a lot of emerging Artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest? The thing that sets me apart from the rest is that I'm not from the UK. Another thing that sets me apart is that I have songs in Spanish too, I play in two tongues. Obviously I can't leave my roots behind.
What’s you back-story? Ghosts is about being honest with the person you really care about, being honest to them even when they are away from your presence. It might mean something else to you. I wrote it because I was seeing this story unfold with a couple I know...and because I met this girl. Honey is just simply about the times they break your heart and you try to find a way to heal yourself by reminiscing about the love that person use to give you . I wrote it because a good friend of mine was truly depressed of her recent heartbreak, some of the lyrics are actually transcribed from text messages. Strangers is a personal one. I wrote it because I felt it. Because it's happening. It's when you want to be more than friends, even just for a little while, even if in the end that person drifts away. It's about appreciating the existence of that someone, the things they do and say and are.
What are you working on at the moment? Right now I'm recording some new demos. Working at different jobs so I can earn enough money for studio time. It'll help if you guys listen and show some love, so people can give me a chance and some coins. haha.
