Munky are 4 former emo kids who went back in time to the 70s on a quest to become the worlds greatest disco band. Playing relentlessly since 2017, Munky's music is versatile, an energetic and idiosyncratic blend of punk, psych-rock and funk grooves. From introspective and heart wrenching post-punk epics to light hearted trashy funk jams, they don't really like to label themselves.
Although they garnered acclaim following the release of their debut EP, the band truly come into their own in a live setting. Their frenetic and raucous live shows need to be experienced to be believed, a thundering rally-cry of moving bodies, sweat dripped ceilings and smiles all round. You will always have a good time. Munky have toured around Ireland, UK and Europe, most recently as the opening act for the legendary psych-rockers the Meat Puppets.
Munky's debut EP 'Un, Deux, Trois, Cat' was produced by Dan Fox of Girl Band and Dan Doherty (Fontaines D.C, Somebody's Child). The band have described it as "Silly name, serious bangers". The EP was released on April 2nd and within 4 days of release racked over 10k streams.
One look at their social media and it's clear they don't take themselves or anything else seriously, except their music. In that they put every last drop of their passion.
