Passion Bel Canon, the unlikely alliance of an environmental manager, barista and jobbing actress, started life as a series of internet adverts looking for musical collaborators in 2013.

Since their online beginnings, the band have been merging their individual influences to create their own brand of atmospheric indie pop. Combining Lauren Partridge’s soaring emotive vocals, Will Barter’s dynamic guitar playing and Jamie Smith’s powerful upright drumming style, the London based trio create infectiously rhythmic songs with a dark edge. Using an array of synths and electronic samples played alongside acoustic instruments including kalimba and ukulele, the band’s live and recorded performances have been likened to alternative pop artists Bat For Lashes, Daughter and Florence + the Machine.

Releasing their debut single ‘Land of Hope’ with DTSE Music in 2014, Passion Bel Canon have received radio play on BBC 6Music’s The Tom Robinson show for 'Land of Hope' and 'Fire.' They have notably supported Sony signed artist Owlle, Irish chart toppers HamsandwicH and psychedelic troubadours Tempesst. They have played at Nozstock, Chilled in a Field Festival, Lakefest and Oxjam festivals with a highlight playing Farm Fest's main stage in 2016.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2015, their fan-funded debut EP 'Lights' recorded with Werkhouse was released in October 2016. They have since created two music videos. Directed by Will Bloomfield, their first music video for ‘Lights’, the title track from the EP, was launched in February 2017 and was subsequently shown as part of the Official Selection for the London Independent Film Festival 2017. Their second music video, 'Stranger', directed by Matthew Stuart Smith, features the band members with dancers from Reflections Dance enacting a sinister love story based on the dark fairytale ballet Giselle.

Currently the trio are back in the studio recording their next EP, reworking their song 'Ritual' for the record. Originally written and recorded as part of their soundtrack for Markus Schroder's short film The Ritual, the trio have been inspired by their live performances of the song, hoping to bring this energy to their upcoming EP.
