Tell us a bit about yourself?
I'm a singer/songwriter, born in West Yorkshire and living in Amsterdam. I write songs about people that piss me off. If you like Frank Turner, Nothing But Thieves, Japandroids, then you might find something you enjoy here.
There are a lot of emerging artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest?
I've been knocking about for a while now and played gigs in a lot of cool places. Most recently I played a sold out O2 Shepherds Bush Empire in support of American funny dudes Jake & Amir, but have also played at The Living Room in NYC and The Etihad Stadium in Manchester. I do a mix of acoustic & full band shows and my releases reflect this.
What’s your back-story?
I write a lot about social injustice and mental health. We live in a world where it's easy to feel like you're shouting into a void on these issues so I just try to shout about them as little bit louder.
What are you working on at the moment?
I have a new EP called "KEEPSMILING." that is out on my own label in early 2018. I'm also releasing monthly acoustic bootlegs on my Bandcamp in support of Safe Gigs For Women. I'll be touring around the UK & Europe in March 2018.
What's the first song you remember hearing? Atlantic City by Bruce Springsteen. I vividly remember finding the lyric "they blew up the chicken man in Philly last night" hilarious as a kid. Now I'm older and understand the song it means even more to me.
You're in a Karaoke Bar - What's your go to song?
Cigarettes & Alcohol - Oasis
What was the first gig you went to?
I tell people it was Bob Dylan at the Manchester Arena but that was actually my 2nd ever gig. The true answer is Will Young & Gareth Gates. We live and we learn!
Which song do you wish you'd written?
Five Years by David Bowie. For my money, the best written song in the world. I don't understand how it can be so good.
Which song changed your life?
Alternative Ulster - The Stiff Little Fingers. Opened up an entire new world of music and sound for me!
Which song would you like played at your funeral?
The Masterplan - Oasis
What song is stuck in your head right now?
For some weird reason, the "Everyone Knows It's Slinky" jingle has been in my head for days now. I don't know why.
What was the first Album you bought?
Hot Fuss - The Killers
Which song made you want to play music?
Let Me Entertain You - Robbie Williams. It was the first song I ever sung on Karaoke when I was 7 years old and I haven't looked back since!
