Learn more about me
Tell us a bit about yourself? I'm RiTA, a singer/songwriter and producer originally from Portugal, who moved to London to study Music Performance and Recording at the London College of Music. I enjoying producing my own music which can be considered within the Alternative R&B/Soul genre. My main music influences are definitely BANKS, Rosie Lowe, NAO, Frank Ocean, Chet Faker and Flume.
There are a lot of emerging artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest? With my music, listeners experience an undeniable mix of cultures, when encountered with both urban and exotic characteristics in the sonority of my tracks. In fact, there is no denying that having experienced different cultures throughout the years has allowed my music to grow immensely creativity wise.
What’s your back-story? The track "High", part of my most recent EP 'AGUA', is very personal to me. It describes the feeling of being so tired of your own emotions and life struggles, you become detached, almost unaware of how you should feel towards your closest ones, or life in general. Consequently, you experience this kind of numbness which leaves you feeling lighthearted but never away of your feeling what you most fear deep down. "I wish that I could care a little more, but that feeling doesn't live with me no more. Am I going out of my mind? Everything feels so much lighter than before".
What are you working on at the moment? After a successful tour around London, I am now working towards my next single release. It's called "Trap", a dark, mysterious R&B track which will leave you at the edge of your seat.
