SASS are a group of friends who met after college and formed a band out of a eclectic and mutual taste in music. Some of their biggest influences are The XX, Foals, Drake, Dirty Projectors, Usher, The National, Dev Hynes and Brand New.
"We try to make pop music you can dance to, with guitars and a RnB sensibility."
Next up for is to record some new tracks with good friend and DJ Romo Weeks in November, who has remixed a track for us before (Island for Two).
"We hope to gig again soon, we have played multiple venues across London and Birmingham including Camden assembly (formerly Barfly) The Garage Islington, O2 academy Birmingham and Hare and Hounds Kings Heath."
Vocals: Ryan Ward
Guitar: Craig Griffiths
Keys/Guitar: Nicky Preston
Bass: Jack Bedford
Drums: Fraser Knott
"Our aim is just to make music we would want to listen to."
"SA$$ are an alt-pop five-piece originally from Birmingham who are now hanging out in the wilds of North London. Hailing from the city that has defined a large part of the music scene over the last few years, you might be thinking you'll know what SA$$ probably sound like before you even hear them - but you'd probably be wrong in your assumptions.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of The XX, Drake and Foals, SA$$ offer a different take on the more familiar ‘B-Town’ sound."
''Latest single 'Cupid' draws on the band's combination of woozy electronic drums interspersed with tropical guitar, heavy bass and synth, topped off with a layer of R&B vocals - just about has it all, really. "I wrote the lyrics when I was stuck in a bit of a limbo, which is pretty common when you're dating in London," shares vocalist Ryan Ward. "I feel like, if you ask anyone who is dating here (in London), they feel like they are coming across as too keen or as if they have bigger fish to fry. I think we are all guilty to playing both of those roles, so it's a reflection on that."
