Solarays are a five-piece Indie Rock band hailing from Bradford in the UK. Formed in 2016, the band spent this time as a three-piece of Sam Rothery (Vocals), and brothers Ben (Lead Guitar) and Sam Tidswell (Rhythm Guitar) quietly crafting songs and honing their style. Hailing from the small village of Wyke in West Yorkshire, where often there was nothing to do but play Football or take up an instrument the three have been writing and playing music together for close to seven years. The addition of Ellis Dick (Bass) and Dan Lees (Drums) allowed the band to find their feet and build upon their compositions. From recording rough demo's of what would become fond set fillers, the band moved from these basic bedroom recordings and went on to cut their most recent release 'Invincible' with Mike Heaton of Embrace. Formed from the ashes of a few local acts, Glass/ Great White Underground/ Rawfolds the members have brought together their individual talents, and in turn, crafting catchy foot tapping tunes with indie sensibilities. Growing up on a diet of excellent mid-noughties British guitar rock such as Arctic Monkeys, Courteeners and The Libertines. The band certainly weren't short of a good roster of high-quality acts to inspire them. Firm believers in the power of guitar music, the band's Jangly guitar riffs and anthemic choruses combined with witty observational lyrics and relentless driving drums captures an energy often commented on in their live shows. The band's music has been played on numerous radio stations, which includes earning praise from Alan Raw of BBC Introducing who hailed the bands track 'Coast to Coast' as an Indie Anthem. Solarays are currently aiming to expand their fan base by building up their repertoire of shows in West Yorkshire and the surrounding areas as well as writing and recording as they gear up for an EP release in 2019. The band will finish off 2018 with a stint at The Underground Music Venue in supporting fellow Bradford locals Stellar to see out the year in style before taking off to play dates all across the north in the new year.
