"it’s like lo-fi, minimalistic, American rom-com soundtrack, lead by Brandon Flowers" - Jericho Keys
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I'm a 20 year-old bedroom/shed musician from Nottingham at university in York. Most of my teenage years were spent listening to Arctic Monkeys, The Fratellis, The Killers and co., and developed a love for songwriters and songwriting through them and people like Lou Reed, Brian Wilson, John Lennon. Spent years waiting for a band to come along before being inspired by the Kevin Parkers and Steve Lacys of the world to do it myself.
There are a lot of emerging artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest?
My songwriting is formed by a mixture of love for puns and world-play with emotional pop melodies and a mild attempt at groove.
What’s your back-story?
I've been writing love-struck songs since I was 16, consistently backing up failed attempts at relationships with awkward songs about them, but after managing success in that department I'm trying to write happier-ish lyrics.
What are you working on at the moment?
Currently attempting to balance the final year of a History degree with figuring out what to do afterwards and writing more music - there will be a new song by Christmas, but it won't be a Christmas song (I believe).
