"Hello, it's nice to meet you, we're The Maximum Chill!"

The Maximum Chill is a group of musical misfits – freaks if you will – comprised of Brandon Vasko on guitar and vocals, Francis Egan on bass guitar and backing vocals, Wilfred Warren on electric piano, Chris Campbell on alto saxophone, and Luke Maloney on drums. They got together sporadically after the first iteration of the band fell apart on May 26, 2017, and recorded this debut album on the anniversary of the break up in 2018. The music they play has been compared to that of Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, Ween, Jimi Hendrix, and others.

The band is led by self-taught guitarist and composer Brandon Vasko. He began composing music when he was 16 after learning how to read and perform in his high school concert band. The music they play often takes odd turns, uses multiple different contrasting rhythms or melodies, and features improvised sections where anything can happen. When performing, they aim to fully captivate audiences with props, musical improvisation, harsh lyrics and general zaniness to get any kind reaction be it of joy, awe, or pure disgust. Anything can happen during a show with these "musicians."

Their debut album, “Here Come Those Freaks!” features 15 tracks and a broad array of styles from R&B, doo-wop, psychedelic rock, rock’n’roll, modern classical and musique concrete. The album was entirely independently produced and recorded by the band at Raven Street Studios in Ottawa, On. It was recorded live off the floor with no click track and minimal takes to capture the authenticity and immediacy of classic recordings. Their saxophone player, Chris Campbell, also contributed to the album as the studio engineer and mixing engineer. Five tracks feature an 8-piece chamber orchestra that was overdubbed live off the floor. The final track on the album, “Eine kleine Irremusik,” is the result of a 70-minute long freeform percussion jam in which friends and fans were invited to the studio on the final day of recording to play around with the band. It releases worldwide on all streaming platforms on Oct 13, 2018.
