The Unprecedented are a 4 piece garage punk/ hard rock band from Cirencester and Stroud. Known for playing fast and loud with attitude, similar in style to old school Green Day and Queens of the Stone Age. They are heavily guitar based with two aggressive playing guitarists and have a tendency to get distracted and shred over the top of everything. Their debut EP was released on the 18th of May, taking just under 9 hours to make (mixing and production and is available to buy online and in Stroud Trading Post. They started off as a three piece band and soon gained another vocalist, (who sings on 2 of 4 tracks on the EP) he left the band after the EP was recorded. The band soon gained a new member as they felt they needed another guitarist to have a more powerful sound live. Many people have stated how The Unprecedented sounds like the Sex Pistols and The Stooges on top of many other bands of the 70's. Amongst all of their songs, the track 'Jo Towning' has always been a favourite, being played at several house parties as well as being the most streamed track on the EP.
There are a lot of emerging artists in the UK right now. What sets you apart from the rest? We don't claim to be amazing and special like 90% of bands at our level, we are true to our style, we enjoy playing and the end product. At the end of the day we aren't the modern version of the Beatles. We are The Unprecedented. (Our band name completely contradicts this paragraph)
What’s your back-story? We enjoy hard rock and punk, and feel most modern bands don't have an edge. It seems to be a sea of autotuned and decent bands have drowned in it. We play it how it is.
What are you working on at the moment? The band plans on making faster and heavier music in the future, exploring grunge and hard rock to a fuller level. We are soon to work on an album which will be released early 2019, adding more complex and interesting solos and drum fills. We hope to make the album to a better standard than the 9 hour EP (with acceptable lyrics)
