Tell us a bit about yourself? Russell Toomey aka To Bear Sir is a singer songwriter from South Wales. Having being in a number of bands over the years including My Red Cell, Inner-City Pirates and Denim Snakes, Russell decided to step back from the music scene and go back to writing. In March of 2016 he realised that he was comfortable as a solo artist, Denim Snakes had disbanded and To Bear Sir was born. Compared to the previous bands, To Bear Sir’s debut album “Hold Yourself Tight” focuses on the more personal aspects of Russell’s life. Instead of anger or heart break, this album is one more of a resolve of the past and being happy with your situation. His music is a mix of rock & ballad but with an offbeat twist using strings and ambient drums. From his first demo release of “Missing Parts” things have picked up quickly. To Bear Sir has been getting airplay from a number of radio stations including Dermot O'Leary on BBC Radio 2 who quoted "Songwriting of poet and the voice of an angel", Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson BBC 6music and Adam Walton BBC Wales.
