Twenty on Black consists of Gav Rasmussen (guitar, vocals) and Tron Marshall (drums). Their paths crossed in January 2017 when Marshall signed up for drum lessons at 'Foundation Musician', Rasmussen's music tuition centre. They immediately hit it off, and when Rasmussen, who at the time was playing solo acoustic cover gigs along the North Wales coast, was asked if he would be interested in playing a 'Connect Buddies' charity event in Prestatyn, North Wales, in December 2017, Rasmussen approached Marshall with the idea of playing the event as a band. It was at this event that 'Twenty on Black' was born.

After starting off with just 6 cover songs from the likes of 'Band of Skulls', 'The Black Keys', and 'Dave Clark Jr.', and Kings of Leon, they expanded their setlist to cover an additional 34 songs, playing their first stand-alone gig, for 2 hours non-stop, at The Station, Colwyn Bay on the 7th April 2018. Shortly after this gig they then went on to secure an additional 30+ gigs over the remaining part of 2018, including a headlining slot at 'Wild Festivals Wales'.

In addition to gigging throughout 2018, they also began writing their own original material, recording their debut 4 track self titled EP on the 29th October 2018 at 'Stiwdio Un' in Bangor North Wales, in a single day. The EP contained the tracks: Pork N' Beans; I Am the Music; 3 More Summers; Nothin' on Me. It was released on all major music download/streaming services on the 3rd November 2018, and obtained it's first radio play black on the 18th December on the 'Calon FM Unsigned Hour'. The EP was then later played on a number of other radio stations, earning Twenty on Black 'Band of the Week' on the 'The Peter Hatton Big Fat Indie Show' on the 8th January 2019.

Throughout 2019, the band continued to build on their original material, whilst playing a number of top venues across Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Wrexham, Welshpool, Preston, Liverpool, Yorkshire, and Oxfordshire.
