Brighton four-piece Youth Sector are an indie/alt rock four-piece offering up a unique blend of drawling vocal melodies sashaying above sharp, crooked guitars. Bringing in influences from Talking Heads, Devo and Queens Of The Stone Age, synth-like guitar textures and angry driving bass lines are the order of the day.
The quartet combine post-punk grit with melodic anthemic sounding indie hooks. They produce angry, cutting guitar parts that growl and bite at each other through robotically rigid grooves. With a compelling live show, Youth Sector have “swagger to match bands ten times their size, the confidence the quartet exhibit points to exciting things” (DIY Magazine).
Starting 2018 full of intent, the band's debut single 'Dig It And Repeat' premiered on DIY Magazine, being called "an art-rock slammer plugged into the mains". Youth Sector's first offering received multiple plays on Huw Stephens' BBC Radio 1 show, as well as plays from BBC Introducing and BBC 6 Music. Their second single 'No Adventure' is to be released on 21st February, and will premiere on Clash Magazine on 19th February. The upcoming single is a three-and-a-half-minute flurry of vocal hooks, jabbing in and out of rhythmic guitar lines and '80s sounding synth tones. Lyrically, 'No Adventure' circles feelings of apathy in lyrics such as "I threw a party once but no one ever caught it", and the track's fist-pumping, gang-vocal chorus line: "No adventure, no prize / If nothing's what you want, you risk nothing".
